No. G.O. Ms. No. 27. - In exercise of the powers conferred by Sections 3 and 15 of the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Prohibition of Capitation Fee) Act, 1983 (Andhra Pradesh Act No. 5 of 1983) the Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby makes the following Rules for rounding of decimal fractions in minimum percentage of marks in qualifying examinations to the next whole number for admissions into Professional Institutions offering courses in Engineering (including Technology), Pharmacy, MBA, MAC, Planning, Architecture and Law Courses in the State.

1. Short Title applicability and commencement. - (i) These rules may be called the Andhra Pradesh Professional Institutions (Rounding of decimal fractions in the minimum percentage of marks in qualifying examinations to the next whole number for the purpose of admissions) Rules, 2007.

(ii) They shall apply to all Professional Institutions offering Engineering (including Technology), Pharmacy, MBA, MCA, Planning, Architecture and Law Courses in the State.

(iii) They shall come into force from the academic year 2007-2008.

2. Definitions. - (a) "Common Entrance Test Rules" means the Andhra Pradesh Common Entrance Test for entry into Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Medical and Dental Courses Rules, 2004; the Andhra Pradesh Planning and Architecture Common Entrance Test for entry into 5 years B. Arch, 4 years B. Planning and other related courses Rules, 2004; Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test for Diploma Holders for admission into B.E., B. Tech. and B. Pharmacy Courses Rules, 2004; Andhra Pradesh Law Common Entrance Test Rules, 2004 and the Andhra Pradesh Common Entrance Test for admission into MBA/MCA Rules, 2004.

(b) "Professional Course" means a course imparting education in Engineering (including Technology), Pharmacy, MBA, MCA, Planning, Architecture and Law.

(c) "Qualifying examination" means the examination of minimum qualification, passing of which entitles one to seek admission into the relevant Professional Course as prescribed in the Common Entrance Test Rules.

3. Rounding of decimal fraction marks to next highest whole number. - Wherever the marks secured by any candidate in the qualifying examination fall short of the minimum qualifying marks/ grade point prescribed as eligibility criterion for admissions in to the Common Entrance Test Rules by less than or equal to 0.5% / 0.5 grade point, such decimal fraction marks shall be rounded to the next highest whole number.
